My Babies

I just love this photo of the girls. When I scanned it into the computer, I was messing around with the color and thought this was pretty cool looking. Enjoy!

Pretty flower!

I just love this picture. This was a surprise flower that showed up in our yard one year. I think it's a bit unusual. Just thought I would post it.

Yummy tomaties!

Today Amanda and I planted our first ever tomato plant. Or, tomaties, as Amanda calls them. It's a Roma grape tomato plant. So, the tomatoes are small, like a grape, and sweeter. We have three blooms on them right now. So, I'm hoping we'll have some good tomatoes soon. We also planted some radishes. They came in a plant kit that Amanda got in the mail. Dave and I don't care for them, but I won't let on and see if Amanda will like them. We try really hard not to show our dislike for veggies in front of the girls. We, OK I, want them to make up their own minds on whether they like something or not. But, that also means we have to take bites of the foul stuff and pretend we like it. Oh, well, it can't hurt us. No matter what Dave says. :0)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

We celebrated Dave's birthday last weekend and the girls helped him blow out the candle on his birthday cupcake. I was going to make him a cake, but Amanda likes to help me make cupcakes so much that he didn't get his cake. Amanda likes to put the paper cups in and stir the mix. Her favorite part, and Dave's too, is to lick off the beaters when I'm done with the mixer. I don't know what Dave is going to do when Sarah starts demanding her share. :0) Dave was so excited about his birthday present, LOL. It was a dandelion puller. Ooh, Aah fascinating. But, hey, that's what he wanted. So, Happy Birthday Dave. We love you.

Why?

This is Amanda in front of our flowering pear tree. I got this picture before she found out it was covered in bees. She's terrified of bees. If she hears one, she bursts out crying and runs for the house. I finally made up a "magic" bottle of bug spray. It's just water and skin so soft from avon. But, hey, she thinks it works.

Now that she has turned 3 the "why's" have begun. This last week she's driven me crazy with why questions. And, why's when I give her the answer. I've heard other parents complain about it, but never realized how annoying the 15 billionth why question can be. :0) I should just be happy that she's inquisitive, but you can only come up with so many answers to why you want the door closed when you are going to the bathroom.

Sassy the cat

I'm in the process (started today) of making Sassy an outdoor cat. Or, at the very least an indoor/outdoor cat. I was down in the basement with Sarah and not paying attention. Sarah was quietly looking under the bed and I think she startled Sassy. Long story short...Sarah has quite a few scratches on her arm. She is one tough baby! She only cried for a few seconds and then she was fine. I washed up her arm and put some anti-biotic on and she's good as new. I decided to call the vet and put her on a list for people who are looking for pets. And, I took Sassy outside for a bit. So, one or the other will happen. Either she will get a new home or she'll be going outside. She seemed to enjoy the 15 min. she was out with me. I think I'll do this everyday for longer periods each day. I know she'll prefer outside once she gets used to it. I mean, she is an animal. It's got to be better than being cooped up in the basement all the time.

It's mostly my fault because I wasn't paying attention and I think Sarah startled the cat. She was so quiet and I think she probably reached in under the bed and grabbed the cat's fur. Sarah likes furry things, I bet it looked to her like the fuzzy material in one of her blankets. Probably scared the cat half to death and she was just defending herself. The funny part of the whole story was when I showed Amanda what happened. She said, "Sassy shouldn't scratch the baby. Sassy shouldn't scratch. Sassy needs to go outside." She said it in such a quiet, serious way. I said, "Yes, I think you're right. Sassy needs to learn to like it outside now."

The Easel

Here is Amanda with the easel we put together for the girls. She played with it all weekend long. It's got a roll of paper at the top and a white board under the paper. On the other side, is a chalkboard. It's in the kitchen right now, but I have plans to move it into the basement. I'm in the process of planning a craft center in the basement for the girls and I. I'm hoping to get a desk for myself and do some rearranging to get things a bit more organized down there. This is going to be a major challenge for me because it's so overwhelming. I am NOT an organized person. Clutter is my middle name, so wish me luck.

Last night Sarah managed to get up on her feet. She, Amanda and Dave were playing on the floor and she just crawled over and used Dave to help her get up on her knees. Then, she just popped up onto her feet. She looked so pleased with herself. I have this funny feeling, she'll be walking sooner than I want. She gets frustrated when Amanda runs away from her. She makes the funniest sound of frustration. I know she wants to chase after her. She just starts crawling her little legs and arms off trying to catch up. It's so cute.

The other day Amanda was playing with Sarah and they were both crawling thru the kitchen. Amanda in the front and Sarah following behind. And, Amanda was saying "chugga chugga choo choo!" With Sarah following right along, giggling. Of course they stopped as soon as I got the camera out. Little stinkers.

Blue Eyes!

A lot of you have already seen this picture, but I like how her eyes just pop out of it. I just had to post it.

Yikes, Scary Hair!

I couldn't resist taking this picture. It was taken after Sarah took a bath. I thought she looked so cute! I can't believe how much hair she has. Amanda didn't have this much hair until she was almost 18 months old. Sarah still only has two bottom teeth. She's drooling like crazy, but no sign of any top teeth coming in. She's crawling all over and likes to pull over Mom's plants. I guess that's a sign that I need to get them to higher ground. She's a very laid back, happy baby.

Our Flowering Trees

This is what our front yard trees look like in the spring. We just love all the pretty flowers on the trees. We planted some lilac bushes along the fence a few years ago. I really look forward to those getting fuller and full of blooms. Amanda isn't so excited about the flowers because of the bees. She is terrified of them. I'm not sure why, she's never been stung by one.

Spring is in the air

Here is a picture I took the other day of our Flowering Pear Tree. This is the tree we planted shortly after Amanda was born. It just looks so beautiful in the spring.

Sarah's Easter Dress

Here is Sarah in her Easter dress. She slept thru all of the hunting part of Easter. Poor little thing got worn out at church. But, oh doesn't she look cute?

Amanda's Easter Dress

Here is Amanda in her Easter Dress. She had so much fun hunting for her and Sarah's Easter baskets and eggs.

Make-up

A friend of mine was telling me about how her son put diaper rash cream all over himself and it reminded me of the time Amanda put on make-up. This was sometime last year, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

I was in the shower and I could hear Amanda playing in the bathroom. Normally I would like that because then I knew where she was. But, all of a sudden it got really quiet. So, I peaked out of the shower to see if Amanda had left. And this is what I saw. I didn't know if I should laugh or be really mad, because she had completely destroyed my lipstick. She had shoved her finger all the way up to the third knuckle into the tube. But, when she looked up at me with that big smile and said, "Look Momma, lips!" I just burst out laughing. I told her not to move. Then I hurried out of the shower, dried and ran to get my camera. What a little doll. Good thing the lipstick was a freebie.

Nap Time

Another cute story...I was downstairs on the computer and Amanda was upstairs watching Dora. Sarah was in her room taking a nap. Then I hear Amanda in Sarah's room and it sounds like she's in her bed. So, I go up. Yup, they're in the crib together. Amanda says, "Mommy, Sarah needs 'tention." So, I get her out of the crib. Amanda then tells me that she needs a nap and wants to take it in the crib. I try to talk her out of it, "you're a big girl and cribs are for babies." She didn't care. I don't really see a prob. with that. I'm just happy she wants to take a nap. Then I think, wait she must just be playing. So, I ask her if she really wants to take a nap or is this just a "tend" nap. She says she really wants to take a nap..."LEAVE!" As I'm walking out, I stop at Sarah's closet to get her some clothes to wear. Amanda growls and says "I need to get some west. LEAVE!" Boy, she's a pushy little thing.

Piglet Toothbrush

Here is a picture that Dave took of the girls and I. It's one of the very few that I actually like and I can't believe that we are all looking at the camera at the same time. Amazing!

Funny story:
Yesterday I was helping Amanda on the potty, yes we are potty training. And, it's going very well. Amanda has decided that she needs privacy now, so I went downstairs to check on Sarah. When I got back up to see how things were progressing in the restroom, I walked in and here's Amanda cleaning between her toes with her toothbrush. YUCK!!!! She just didn't understand why I was so grossed out. In fact, when I told her we would have to throw out her piglet toothbrush, she threw a hum dinger of a fit. Every thing it ok now, we picked out new toothbrushes today at Walmart.

Hoppy Easter!

Here is a picture of the girls with the Easter Bunny. Last year Amanda screamed her head off, he scared her so bad. So, for the past couple of weeks, I have been preparing her to go see him. She kept saying, "I will smile. I won't cry this time." I was a little skeptical. But, when we got there she did pretty good. She was a little shy. I could see in her eyes that she wasn't too sure about this big fuzzy bunny.

Sarah loved the Bunny. She wanted to get the fur into her mouth. I think the fur reminded her of a blanket that she has. The fun part was trying to get them to both look and smile at the camera at the same time. Oh, boy! The photographer and I were totally making fools of ourselves trying to do just that. I think we took over 30 pictures before I decided that this was as good as we were going to get.

Hope you all had a happy Easter.

My First Blog Entry

Well, I think I may have done it. It's not exactly all the way I want it, but it's a start. I don't know why the white shows up around my pictures, but I hope to fix that in the future. It was pretty easy to set up. I am having trouble getting my pictures on this blog. I think it's because the pictures I've taken on my digital are way too big. So, now I'm in the process of learning how to make them smaller files. So, keep visiting to see some more pictures of the family and especially my two little angels.

Thanks for visiting.
